Message from the Founder
Welcome to the Mashpee SuperSwim! We are glad you are with us. Over the last 25 years, the Mashpee SuperSwim has been a passion of mine. As a competitive swimmer growing up in Connecticut, I enjoyed swimming long open water distances in Long Island Sound. Today, I continue to swim with my good friends at Cape Cod YMCA in West Barnstable.
The Mashpee SuperSwim annually brings in over 400 swimmers every June for some good camaraderie and competition. Our venue, Johns Pond, is an ideal place to swim with clear, clean, and warm water. Following the swim, athletes rave about our post-race lunch. Race day feels like a reunion, of sorts, for many swimmers in the Northeast.
What's more, this event helps give back to an important initiative at the Town of Mashpee Recreation Department. All proceeds from the SuperSwim will assist families in need of financial assistant to send their children to a full-day camp program during the summer. With your participation, we are helping children create memories of a lifetime by providing them a safe environment to learn valuable skills and make new friends through programs that are challenging, educational, and fun.
With my recent retirement as Director of the Mashpee Recreation Department, I am proud to extend the leadership of this event to Heidi McLaughlin of the Mashpee Recreation Department and Bill Burnett of Streamline Events. Together with their leadership and our vast number of volunteers, I trust the Mashpee SuperSwim will carry on for many more successful years to come. And for me, I am excited to be on the "other side" as a participant on race day.
I look forward to seeing you at Johns Pond!
